19 лютого в Україні відзначають День Державного Герба — одного з головних символів української державності, який об’єднує покоління та відображає безперервність нашої історії.

Саме цього дня у 1992 році Верховна Рада України офіційно затвердила золотий Тризуб на синьому щиті як Малий Державний Герб України. Відтоді цей знак став символом незалежності, національної гідності та історичної спадкоємності.

Коріння Тризуба сягає часів Русі-України, де він був особистим знаком князя Володимира Великого. У ХХ столітті символ став гербом Української Народної Республіки, а згодом — знаком визвольної боротьби українців. Сьогодні він є невід’ємною частиною сучасної української ідентичності та державності.

Існують різні інтерпретації значення Тризуба. Одна з найпоширеніших версій трактує його як символічне закодоване слово «воля», що уособлює прагнення українців до свободи та самостійності. У кожному історичному періоді цей знак залишався знаком вибору на користь незалежності та власного шляху.

Сьогодні Тризуб — це символ, який із честю носять на шевронах українські Захисники, а також знак єдності для всіх, хто навчається, працює й щодня робить свій внесок у майбутнє країни.

Європейський університет долучається до вшанування державних символів України та закликає студентську спільноту пам’ятати історію, цінувати свободу й плекати національну свідомість.

???????? Day of the State Emblem of Ukraine: A Symbol of History, Freedom, and Unity

On February 19, Ukraine marks the Day of the State Emblem, one of the ключ symbols of Ukrainian statehood that unites generations and reflects the continuity of our history.

On this day in 1992, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially approved the golden Tryzub (Trident) on a blue shield as the Small State Emblem of Ukraine. Since then, this sign has become a symbol of independence, national dignity, and historical continuity.

The origins of the Tryzub date back to the times of Kyivan Rus, where it served as the personal symbol of Prince Volodymyr the Great. In the twentieth century, it became the emblem of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and later a symbol of the Ukrainian liberation movement. Today, it remains an integral part of modern Ukrainian identity and statehood.

There are several interpretations of the meaning of the Tryzub. One of the most widespread versions suggests that its lines symbolically encode the word “volia” (“freedom”), reflecting Ukrainians’ aspiration for liberty and self-determination. Throughout different historical periods, this sign has represented a conscious choice for independence and a sovereign path.

Today, the Tryzub is a symbol proudly worn on the uniforms of Ukrainian defenders, as well as a sign of unity for everyone who studies, works, and contributes daily to the country’s future.

European University joins in honoring the state symbols of Ukraine and calls on the student community to remember history, value freedom, and cultivate national awareness.
