23 липня 2026 року проректор з виховної роботи ПВНЗ «Європейський університет», кандидатка історичних наук, доцентка Олена Хоменко взяла участь у всеукраїнській інтерактивній лекції-дискусії «Російсько-українська війна як "війна за ідентичність" та привласнення культурної спадщини», організованій Освітнім центром Верховної Ради України та ГО «Інтерньюз-Україна». Лекцію проведено на платформі мистецької галереї Steinbarg Gallery у межах освітньо-просвітницької ініціативи за підтримки House of Europe. Спікеркою заходу виступила кандидатка філософських наук, доцентка кафедри філософії Криворізького державного педагогічного університету, наукова співробітниця Рурського університету в Бохумі (Німеччина) Олена Мішалова.

У межах лекції російсько-українську війну було розглянуто як багатовимірний конфлікт, у центрі якого перебуває боротьба за національну ідентичність, історичну пам'ять та культурну спадщину. Особливу увагу приділено концепціям провідних світових дослідників, зокрема Френсіса Фукуями, Бенедикта Андерсона, П'єра Нора та ін., що дозволяють глибше осмислити процеси націєтворення, політики пам'яті та формування колективної ідентичності в умовах війни.

Під час дискусії було проаналізовано практики привласнення української культурної спадщини Росією, руйнування пам'яток культури, маніпулювання історичними наративами та використання культури як інструменту гібридної війни. Окремий акцент було зроблено на необхідності деколонізації українського історико-культурного простору, захисту культурної спадщини та протидії інформаційним маніпуляціям. Участь у таких науково-просвітницьких заходах сприяє професійному розвитку науково-педагогічних працівників, поглибленню розуміння сучасних гуманітарних викликів та впровадженню актуальних наукових підходів в освітній процес Європейського університету.

European University Representative Participated in a Nationwide Lecture-Discussion on the Russian-Ukrainian War as a War for Identity

On July 23, 2026, Olena Khomenko, Vice-Rector for Educational Work of the Private Higher Educational Establishment “European University”, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Associate Professor, took part in the nationwide interactive lecture-discussion “The Russian-Ukrainian War as a ‘War for Identity’ and the Appropriation of Cultural Heritage.”

The event was organized by the Educational Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Internews Ukraine NGO on the platform of Steinbarg Gallery as part of an educational initiative supported by House of Europe. The speaker was Olena Mishalova, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor at Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University, and Research Fellow at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany.

The lecture explored the Russian-Ukrainian war as a multidimensional conflict centered on the struggle for national identity, historical memory, and cultural heritage. Special attention was paid to the concepts of leading international scholars, including Francis Fukuyama, Benedict Anderson, Pierre Nora, and others, which help to better understand nation-building, memory politics, and collective identity formation in wartime.

During the discussion, participants analyzed Russia’s appropriation of Ukrainian cultural heritage, the destruction of cultural monuments, manipulation of historical narratives, and the use of culture as a tool of hybrid warfare. A separate focus was placed on the need to decolonize Ukraine’s historical and cultural space, protect cultural heritage, and counter information manipulation.

Participation in such academic and educational events contributes to the professional development of academic staff, deepens understanding of contemporary humanitarian challenges, and supports the integration of relevant scholarly approaches into the educational process of European University.
