The department’s mission is to organize general and professional training of highly qualified specialists who can apply foreign languages ​​within the frameworks of the professional and business communication context.

The main goal of the department’s activity is a high professional and scientific level, continuous professional and pedagogical improvement; formation of foreign language competence of students of higher education of the Private Higher Educational Establishment “European University”.

The priority tasks for the staff of the department are first the improving the quality of teaching foreign languages ​​in accordance with international standards and the active use of the latest methods and information technologies within the educational process.

The teaching process is carried out based on a competency-based approach corresponding the requirements of the Law on Education and the Recommendations of the Council of Europe on language education within educational studies.

 

Strategic directions of the department’s development:

• increasing the publishing activity of the department’s scientific staff in the publications of the University and the list of specialized publications of Ukraine, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in the scientometric databases Scopus and WoS
• introducing the work of scientific students facultatives of the European University
• organize and conduct student scientific and practical activities on foreign language education
• involving students of pedagogical specialties in scientific and practical activities on foreign language issues
• ensuring the preparation and publication of textbooks, educational and methodological guides
• improvement of the educational process for the formation of the necessary competencies in the student, which will ensure a high level of his/her competitiveness and demand in the labour market.

Svitlana Tsymbal is a Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor  

The author of 129 publications (113 are scientific and 16 are educational and methodical), including 32 scientific works published in domestic and international publications.

Scientific interests: psycholinguistics, intercultural communication.

 Kristina Harahan is a Head of the Laboratory of Linguistics and Comparative Linguistics, Senior Lecturer of the department since 2019. Academic disciplines: Professional English, Business English, Latin, Introduction to the Speciality. A graduate from the translation faculty of the Horlivka State Pedagogical Institute for Foreign Languages, Translator-philologist (English, French). Harahan is receiving the degree of Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, specialty 052 Political Science.

Scientific interests: modern trends in the field of translation of artistic and technical texts, analysis of methods of integration of intercultural communication in the process of learning foreign languages, neuroscientific foundations of speech and cognitive processes in the plane of simultaneous and sequential translation.

 Yevhenia Druhova is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation. 2017-2019 National Pedagogical Drahomanov University, master’s degree, specialty Language and Literature (English), qualification Teacher of English; Teacher of Foreign Literature.

Scientific interest:  Methodology of teaching English; innovative methods of teaching foreign languages; use of technology in teaching English; psycholinguistic aspects of foreign language learning; study of cultural aspects of English-speaking countries; problems of intercultural communication and ways to overcome them; innovative approaches in teaching foreign literature; integration of modern technologies into the educational process; the use of multimedia tools for studying foreign literature.

 

 Tetyana Zhovnach (part-time employee) has been a Senior Lecturer of the department since 2001. Disciplines: professional foreign language, Latin, Business English. In 1996, she graduated from Cherkasy State University named after B. Khmelnytskyi, majoring in English, Ukrainian language and literature, specialist qualification. The Experience in the field of education is 27 years. A teacher of the highest category.                                                                        

Scientific interest: communicative linguistics, phraseology, methodological aspects of foreign language teaching, security of the information space, linguistic systems and processes. Author of more than 20 published scientific works, co-author of a collective monograph. Has publications from scientific conferences. In 2021, she completed an internship at Cherkasy National University (Educational and Scientific Institute of Foreign Languages).

 

 Kateryna Krasnokut (part-time employee) is College Lecturer of the Pyryatyn branch of the European University. He teaches the discipline of professional foreign language. A graduate from Mykola Gogol Nizhny State University, specialty Teacher of German and Literature and Foreign Literature".

Training:

• 2018 - training courses, a specialist of the second category at the Borys Hrinchenko Kyiv University.
• 2021 - training course under the Program: upgrading the qualifications of teaching staff of general secondary education institutions in the context of the State standard of basic secondary education in the foreign language field (Borys Hrinchenko Kyiv University).

 

 Tetiana Luzhetska is a Senior Lecturer of the department since 2024 (English). A graduate from the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National Pedagogical Drahomanov University, Translator of the English, Teacher of the English of higher educational institutions. 

Scientific interest: applying the information technologies to optimize the study of the English language, considering the peculiarities of the educational material and the abilities of students. 2018-2024, she mastered educational modules in accordance with the program for improving the qualifications of pedagogical workers of educational institutions at the Institute of Postgraduate Education of Borys Hrinchenko Kyiv University, 70 hours: Methodology of teaching vocabulary in English lessons; Study of the artistic culture of 21st century Britain in the process of forming socio-cultural competence; Learning English through songs; Teaching Grammar Creatively; Teaching Listening Skills: Ready to Listen, Ready to Learn; Communication Skills; Blended learning: interactive technologies and digital resources in teaching English (How the use of modern interactive technologies contributes to the effective learning of English and makes the life of a foreign language teacher easier); Pointing learners in the right direction: Grammar Presentation and Discovery (A modern look at teaching grammar: we combine classical methods with modern tools).

Finalist of the All-Ukrainian educational and methodological selection ‘Rodovid-Uchitel 2023’: Modern design of an online lesson.

Participant of the II All-Ukrainian challenge ‘Integrative approach in education: relevance, essence, implementation: Implementation of game methods of learning based on the principles of integration of the child's personal development. Speaker of the All-Ukrainian (non) conference ‘I do it like this!’: Game methods and techniques in English lessons.

 Viktoriya Popova is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation.  

In 2007, she graduated from the National Pedagogical Drahomanov University, specialty Ukrainian and Literature, University of Education Management of the National Academy of Sciences, specialty Management and Administration, 2022. Postgraduate studying (the National Pedagogical Drahomanov University, 2007-2010). 

Disciplines: Ukrainian, Ukrainian Literature, Foreign Literature.

The author of 15 scientific and educational and methodological works in domestic and international publications, as well as 1 publication in Scopus (co-authorship in a collective monograph). 

Scientific interests: modern literature, psychology of creativity, language teaching methods.

 Andriy Vasylevich (part-time employee) is a Senior Lecturer. Disciplines: Professional Foreign Language, Business Foreign Language, Academic English. Graduate from the Mykolaiv State Pedagogical Institute, specialty Teacher of English, German and Literature. Graduate of Open International University of Human Development “Ukraine”, specialty Translation.

Scientific interest: Lexical and grammatical features of written translation of scientific literature.

Dissertation research: Formation and development of vocational and technical education in the south of Ukraine (end of XVIII - beginning of XX century), specialty 13.00.01 - Theory and History of Pedagogy.

 

 Leonid Tymoshenko (part-time employee) is a Senior Lecturer at the professional business college of the Lviv branch of the European University. Disciplines: Professional English, Business English. A graduate of RDSU, majoring in Teacher of Ukrainian and Literature, English.
