International Innovation Development: European University Expands Its Academic and Educational Horizons in Partnership with the University of Oxford!
At the instruction of the Rector of European University, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor Olena Ivanivna Tymoshenko, Valentyn Protopopov, Deputy Director of the Department for the Organization of Research Activities, took part in partnership cooperation weeks and a series of official working meetings in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
During the visit, the University’s research and innovation potential was presented, and two key areas for further strategic cooperation were identified:
1. Institutionalization and development of the Health and Education Digital Transformation Alliance (HEDTX Ukraine).
The project is aimed at building an open educational ecosystem in Ukraine and harmonizing Ukrainian medical and technical education with European digital standards, including the European Health Data Space. The programme provides for the creation of simulation-based learning environments (cityEHR Sandbox), the use of international data exchange protocols (HL7 FHIR, openEHR), as well as the operation of university research laboratories (Living Labs) for testing diagnostic algorithms and artificial intelligence startups.
2. Scaling up the international INFOMATRIX IT Projects and Innovation Competition.
The initiative is designed to engage school and university students in addressing applied technological challenges. The competition programme covers software engineering, mechatronics, robotics (Line Follower, Mini Sumo, Lego Sumo), hackathons using generative artificial intelligence (CreAIthon), and digital storytelling, creating a platform for integrating young researchers into the international scientific community.
Results of the Working Meetings and Partnership Prospects
During negotiations between representatives of European University and the University of Oxford (St Edmund Hall), with the participation of experts from Seven Informatics, agreements were reached on the implementation of a number of joint academic and research initiatives:
• Academic mobility: development and implementation of internship and study exchange programmes for European University students at partner institutions.
• Joint research activities: formation of international consortia to participate in grant programmes, including Horizon Europe, development of joint educational modules, and publication of research papers.
• Summer research schools and professional development: organization of intensive international schools, academic workshops, and continuing professional development activities for students, faculty members, and researchers from both universities.
The integration of European University into international research networks creates new opportunities for Ukrainian education and contributes to the implementation of high-tech projects at both national and European level
